My gut twisted as G Force pressed against my body through the hundred foot drop. Fun? No. Sandwiched in between two men, “Cheap flights!” said one to me as I whimpered and cried.

This weekend’s Trifecta challenge is to write a non-fiction piece 33 words long which includes any two of the following words “cheap flights,” “sandwiched in” or “spectacularly clean.” I used four :).
This is a true account of a flight I took last week on my way to Brussels, here is the post that proves it: https://sandrascribbles.com/2012/11/30/broken-compass/ . I am afraid of flying – ever since I took a free fall ride in Euro Disney, my insides have never been the same – but the turbulence we met on the way to Brussels was like I have never been through before. It was terrifying – I stared death in the face, no kidding! – it was funny that none of the other passengers seemed to mind though!
I hate the whole flying business. As my husband once said to me when I was taking 16 flights a month: You fly enough, you’ll eventually become a statistic. Flights have not been pleasant since. 😦 Glad you landed safely.
16 flights a month…that must have been horrible! Thank you for visiting 🙂
Ugh.. The older I get, the harder those rides are on me.
I know exactly what you mean! When I was young take-off was just another fun ride for me, that sudden acceleration that throws you back in your seat. Now I close my eyes and pray for deliverance!
Ha! So true. 🙂 Sounds like me on a plane.
Haha 😀 thanks for reading.
Glad you made it through okay to bring us this piece! 🙂
You’re so kind! thanks 🙂
I would have been just like you… Turbulence is not kind. I’m glad you are safe on the ground!
Thanks for the thought. If there were more people like me on that plane I would have started screaming though! It is only the sheer indifference of those around me that made me force my mouth shut! Embarrassing…
The way you express it, it sounds really frightening.
Trust me it was! Thanks for reading 🙂
Whimpering and crying, yup, we travel in the same ‘class’.
HAHA! 😀 Hey we’re imaginative, we can see the plane crashing in a hundred different ways!
I hate flying! I’ll drive every time. Nice job getting two in!
Lucky you! The island parametres I live on do not let me 😐 Thanks for reading 🙂
my story is also about a flight – it was my first. I HAD to be brave for my two young daughters . . . it was quite a ride. 🙂
Sandwiched in between two young once all the way to Alaska? I can imagine why that can be worthy of a story! 🙂
Turbulence can be so scary. My son is petrified of any movement the plane makes. I do a lot of sweet talking. 🙂
I find that sweet talking and good company always helps.
One of the biggest reasons I don’t like to fly… sharing personal space with strangers.
I’m with you there Tara! thanks for reading.
Yikes, what an experience. Well told piece.
Thanks!
