‘What the hell happened here?’
‘I—I don’t know, boss! I followed all the instructions!’
‘Like hell you did; look at it!’
‘But I did, honest. All the instructions on page six. “Throw the bean and pour water on it.” I did just what the recipe says.’
‘What about page seven?’
‘…P—Page seven?’
‘The chant on page seven.’
‘I—Wh—’
‘You’re telling me that the reason I am now looking at a ladder instead of a beanstalk is that you opened the book, read the recipe and forgot to turn the page?’
‘I—’
‘Idiot!’

Hello all! This little dialogue was triggered by the picture taken by David Stewart, chosen by Rochelle Wisoff and posted for Friday Fictioneers. It’s been a while since I participated in this challenge and I missed it! Hope you like it.
The boss missed the chance to say, “You don’t know Jack!!” 🙂 I enjoyed this one.

Ha! I should have worked that into the title. Darn!! *sigh* Thanks a lot for your comment, Janet.
Great stuff! It reminded me of the first Harry Potter book when the boys get things wrong but Hermione gets them right because she has learned and practised more.
Put tab B into slot 6.
Good job.
Nice one. And Janet’s comment too!
A ladder instead of a beanstalk. lol.
I like the humor.
Dear Sandra,
When all else fails…oops. At any rate, I’d think a ladder would be easier to climb than a beanstalk. Nice work Jack. 😉
Shalom,
Rochelle
Maybe a tad less majestic though 🙂 Thanks for your comment, Rochelle.
Nice take on the picture. I laughed!
Heh 🙂 Thanks.
Clever take on the prompt.. I loved it. 🙂
Lol – great tie-in. I was wondering.

I’m glad you did, thank you.
poor Jack… well done, darling!
A lovely and unique interpretation!
Thanks for your comment, Troy 🙂
Now that was different. In a very good way. 🙂
Thank you, Jackie 🙂
OY!! That guy needs to hire a new fairy tale character. I think Snow White’s available! Very imaginative and entertaining! 😀
Haha 😀 Thanks for the laugh, Linda.
This is more like Bean’s Talk than BeanStalk.
I like where you’ve bean with this. Randy
I like your play on words 🙂
That’s a small, but pretty vital mistake. Great story. 🙂
Thanks 🙂
