Blacky, Scooter and Fido

‘Scooter, Blacky, smell that?’

‘Mmmhmm fresh, breathing meat coming this way.’cerberus-260x173

‘Fido! Stop wagging your tail.’

‘It’s your tail too!’

‘But you’re controlling it!’

‘I’m not!’

‘Guys! Look fierce, the human is here.’

For Trifextra where the challenge this weekend is to write about a famous trio. Well, me, myself and I have settled on Cerberus and his three hungry heads.  Have a nice weekend 🙂

‘I say blue is Eternal Life, red is Eternal Damnation and white is The Void…’

‘No, I think red is the Eternal Life one.  You know how it is in the movies; always pick the red wire cos the blue one is a trick.’

‘That’s for bombs, idiot.’

‘Yeah, but who’s to say this ain’t the same thing?’

‘Come on…let’s just pick one and go through!’

‘Really? You’re just gonna pick one? What if you just pick Eternal Damnation?’

‘Damn! This is hard!’

‘Let’s think about it and come back some other time.  Eternal life can wait another day or two.’

For Friday Fictioneers. Phew! Just in time! Have a nice weekend.

Once Upon a Time…

There was a beautiful princessDisney-Cartoon-Beautiful-Princess-Coloring-Pictures161

Who was loved by two princes.

One was tall,

The other was short,

But both their hearts were pure.

The princess had to choose.

How?

Eeny-meeny-miny-moe of course.

For Trifextra‘s judges.   Hope you have a nice long rest ; )

Challenge:

“The editors of Trifecta are tired.  Hectic summer plans, last minute school shopping and prep for courses of our own have us drifting off in front of the computer.  Any millisecond we can shave off of our busy schedules could potentially improve the quality of our lives as well as the lives of those around us.  This weekend, we’re enlisting your help in shortening our considerably lengthy bedtime routines by giving us a children’s bedtime story in exactly 33 words.  It can be an old favorite reimagined or a work that is entirely your own.  We only ask that your story not leave our kids with visions of the boogie man dancing in their heads.  These tired bones thank you in advance.”

Christmas is Here

So far I have flatly refused to write anything about Christmas, despite the fact that Christmas lights have been sprouting about my home town since the first week of November.  November isn’t Christmas month, it is birthday month, my own that is and so Christmas has no business butting in on my month.

Today though, this here the first day of December, Christmas month has officially been launched and to mark the event I am here posting the ten things I am most looking forward to over the coming thirty days while Frank Sinatra is putting me in the mood with his collection of Christmas carols. Published

Two days ago while sitting bored at my laptop considering options how to pass my time, a loud, eardrum-shattering scream escaped my throat when I checked my e-mail and was notified that I have been published.

Yes ladies and gentlemen, published!

After two years of competing in writing competitions and sending my stories to potential publishers, I finally received back the one word I had been craving – “Yes!”

Lime Light, a story I sent to the Darker Times Fiction competition under the name A.C. Bell, which I use for Horror, Fantasy and Sci-Fi themed fiction, has been given an Honourable Mention and is subsequently posted on the Darker Times Fiction website.

You can read Lime Light by clicking on the name.  I hope you like it.

While there, check out the other stories, there are some really good ones.
