‘Ladies and gentleman, kindly proceed to exhibit C… Thank you…
‘This is what Earthlings used to call a Bar. Archaeologists have found evidence to suggest that in establishments such as this, Earthlings used to worship their ancestors. Little is yet known of the rituals that used to be played out in here except that the essence of the dead humans was captured and stored inside the glass containers you can now see behind the long altar. The ancestors’ spirit was then ingested, producing a feeling of euphoria or dysphoria, depending on whether the spirit trapped inside was good or evil…’

For Friday Fictioneers. A little hint of Sci Fi for you this week. Hope you like the history lesson!
The “like” part just keeps saying it’s loading but doesn’t. But I liked your story. I especially liked the part about having two distinct, different effects.

It does that to me on some blogs, but it’s probably something to do with your server or something (far, far from being a technical person here). Usually I reload the page and it comes up okay. I’ll note your ‘like’ mentally though 😉
Thanks for your comment, Janet.
Naturally, just after I sent that comment, I went back and the “like” worked. Go figure!
janet
ha yeah those spirits will do it to you
nice take on the prompt
Tell me about it! I usually have the euphoric ones; endless nights of laughing for no apparent reason. Bad side effects!
Very original with a unique flavour; a lovely concoction. Well done. Cheers.
A very adept comment 😉 Thanks.
Well that explains tequila! Thanks.
Yes, Tequila is the evilest spirit of them all; could have been a pedophile or a mass murderer back in his day!
Hahah! I really enjoyed this. Those Earthlings can be pretty silly drinking spirits like that. They just might be impossible to figure out.
Yes, Earthlings are a serious academic conundrum!
Oh, that was clever. Drinking spirits.
Here’s to a little ancestor worshipping!
Cute tale and very well done! Randy
Thanks a lot, Randy 🙂
Funny.
🙂
What an imagination, well written little glimpse into the future and how we imagine life from little evidence.
Yeah, so true; ask the Mayans!
What a take on the prompt! Loved it! 🙂
Thanks, Ankita 🙂
lol loved the imagination in this piece.
so that’s how they’re gonna write our history. >< lol
History is written by the victors; who knows which alien species will invade in the end! Maybe they’ll make us all look like little rodents…
Humans and their primitive rituals! Nice take.
Thanks 🙂
There is a misconception at times that getting drunk is mostly to dwell on the negatives, but as you wrote some do it for the euphoria. I don’t do it at all, so no experience to say which is which is usual.
Admirable way to live! I’d like to say I’ve never got drunk…but, well…Thanks a lot for your comment, Joe.
I wonder which planet the ladies and gentlemen are from?
Great imagination at work
Dee
They’re on tour – a collection of tourists from various constellations 😉
I really love the misunderstanding on spirit here… 🙂
Hehe 🙂 Thanks Bjorn
clever witty take on the prompt ! 🙂
Thank you 😀
Dear Sandra,
What the tour guide didn’t mention was that this type of worship was often followed by the worship of the porcelain god. Well done story.
shalom,
Rochelle
HAHA 😀 …and a close relationship with the depths of the bed the next morning!
Never looked at “spirits” in quite that…um…form.
Nice.

Heh 🙂 Thanks.
I love the idea of aliens completely misinterpreting what we’re up to! Great stuff – very imaginative 🙂
Thank you 🙂
Amusing and insightful!
Well done.
Insightful? Ooh! Thanks 🙂
Fantastic take- and a good explanation as to why some people are happy drunks and others are a nightmare – I have always wondered!
Glad to have been a source of educative information 😉
I liked it. It’s always been one of my bugbears that archaeologists so readily explain away anything obscure about ancient civilisations by reference to religion or ritual. It’s almost a comfort to see alien archaeologists doing the same thing 🙂
Sorry I’m so late with a comment.
Never mind lateness! Thank you for reading and commenting! 🙂
I’ll drink to that..
hehe 🙂 Good one!
